Your learning experience designer
Hi! I’m Teresa, I’m interested in how people learn and how to create experiences that lead them forward.
For a long time I wanted to become a graphic designer, but then I decided to study languages. That’s how I ended up in Germany, after earning my degree in foreign language teaching in Mexico.
Like design, language teaching is about understanding how people make meaning and how they communicate with each other. So my wish to make things clear and beautiful never really went away.
In class, I saw how people learn a language by using it. My job was to give them the right support along the way. To do that, I created experiences: role plays, Latin American films and literature, celebrations as they are held in Spanish-speaking countries. This let people immerse themselves in a culture and experience it firsthand.
Cultural studies was a turning point. It gave me the tools to understand culture as a dynamic system in which people act. I found the practical side of this in design thinking: exploring needs and developing solutions together with the people involved.
Today, I bring these paths together as a learning experience designer, helping L&D teams and subject matter experts define goals and design learning experiences that build people’s skills. My focus is on application and transfer. When it comes to using AI, I’m most interested in where it can support people without taking over the thinking that learning requires.
