Then this post is for you. I\u2019ve been using design thinking methods in my learning design work since 2022, and I love how they help you <strong>shift your focus to people instead of content or requirements<\/strong>. Those matter, but they shouldn\u2019t lead the process if you want real engagement.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>Yes, like every framework, the ideal design thinking process rarely survives real project constraints. Time, politics, bandwidth&#8230; But, I decided to focus on what\u2019s actually doable within project&#8217;s constraints and choose the methods that help me guide SMEs, managers, and practitioners to humanize the experience and make better decisions. It helps teams move past assumptions (\u201cthey\u2019re unmotivated\u201d) and uncover actual needs and blockers.<\/p><p><strong>How-To:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Pick one audience segment.<\/li><li>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/xplane.com\/worksheet\/empathy-map-worksheet\/\">XPLANE structure<\/a>.<\/li><li>Fill it together with stakeholders.<\/li><li>Discuss the insights gained.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>What I Like: <\/strong>It shifts conversations fast. Really. Helps you map workflow friction points and design learning that fits into real environments.<\/p><p><strong>How-To:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Observe or interview a practitioner.<\/li><li>Note everything under <a href=\"http:\/\/chrome-extension:\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/en.dt-toolbook.com\/_files\/ugd\/fc35c6_dc02376607c6429a9bc025f236477a11.pdf\">AEIOU<\/a><\/li><li>Cluster patterns.<\/li><li>Use them to challenge assumptions in your kickoff or concept phase.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong><br \/>What I Like: <\/strong>It makes reality very visible and cuts through \u201cwe\u2019ve always done it this way&#8221;. LMS).<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nngroup.com\/articles\/journey-mapping-101\/\">Map steps chronologically<\/a>.<\/li><li>Add emotions, needs, questions, frustration points.<\/li><li>Identify moments where support truly matters<\/li><\/ul><div><strong><br \/>What I Like: <\/strong>It creates a shared picture of reality and stops teams from designing isolated learning repeatedly.\u00a0It\u2019s less a method and more a principle: don\u2019t stop at assumptions, but look for the root problem before deciding on a solution.<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div><div class=\"scriptor-paragraph\"><p><strong>LXD Application:<\/strong> The 5 Whys help you guide the conversation to get to the underlying performance issue, choose the right intervention and avoid creating unnecessary content.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"scriptor-paragraph\"><strong>How-To<\/strong><\/div><p class=\"p1\">This is where the 5 Whys get tricky. You don\u2019t want to sound inquisitive or confrontational. \u201cWhy?\u201d can make people defensive. In practice, you\u2019ll substitute <span class=\"s1\">\u201cwhy\u201d<\/span> with <span class=\"s1\">\u201cwhat\u201d<\/span> most of the time to ask questions that feel curious rather than
